This innovative curriculum that has been proposed and outlined for 1st through 5th graders at Dos Amigos Elementary School, often referenced as the ”iGentix” Generative Learning AI curriculum. Requested by Jumaane Saunders, Dos Amigos Principal, the curriculum was specifically designed to introduce 4th and 5th-grade students to Generative AI concepts in an engaging and age-appropriate manner. It is inspired by the parenthood of Adriana and Keith DeCesare's whose children are in the school. Their iGenix curriculum is intended to be a transformative approach to early childhood education.
The curriculum is often referred to as the iGentix Generative Learning AI Curriculum for 5th Graders, or a Generative AI STEM Program for 5th Grade.
The overall goal is to introduce fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and empower students to understand its potential for creativity, problem-solving, and community impact. It aims to unlock creativity and problem-solving with smart machines.
It focuses on fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills within a bilingual and ethically grounded framework.
Students learn that iGentix AI is a type of smart computer program that can create new things based on what it learns, acting as a friendly digital assistant.
